First Post: Exciting Week!

I'm so excited to start my very first classroom blog!  I hope my blog will help you feel more connected to what goes on daily in our classroom.  I will try to post once a week.

Last week was an exciting week with many fun learning activities!  We had a visiting author, Chris Barton, a visit to Dr. Penny's "bat cave" to hear a story, a visiting scientist to teach us about rocks, scarecrow day, and a visit from "the bat lady."  Wow!  That was a lot of excitement for one week of school.  I was so proud of how the 1C kids kept up their great behavior during these fun activities and we even earned some compliments!

These are from a couple of weeks ago.  We were doing pumpkin math.

Below is author Chris Barton.  He read his book,  Shark vs. Train to the students.

Scarecrow day!  They all looked so cute!  We paraded around the hallway in front of the whole school.

We made cute paper scarecrows to hang in our room!
Our visiting scientist from High Touch, Hight Tech.  It turns out she was my older daughter's first grade teacher!  She taught us all about rocks and minerals.
Then we went upstairs to hunt for rocks and minerals in the river!

We went back to our room to sort through and identify what we found.  We learned about some of the attributes of rocks like hardness and luster.
